Intracelluar Technology

Ligand pioneered the field of intracellular receptor drug discovery using cell-based assays of nuclear receptors. We have expanded our areas of expertise to include cell-signaling enzymes and membrane receptors, such as cytokine receptors.  These drug targets respond to circulating signals acting on the cell to turn on or turn off transcription factors that control cell function by regulating expression of specific genes. Our ability to harness these processes has enabled the identification and development of novel, small-molecule drugs that specifically modulate the activity of these receptors and enzymes, potentially resulting in more targeted and safer drugs than those currently available.
